How to apply for Canada Work Permit
Introduction
A work permit, sometimes known as a work visa, is a document that allows qualifying foreign nationals to work in Canada for a set length of time. Only after receiving a job offer or an employment contract from a Canadian employer may a person apply for a work visa. The company must acquire an LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) from ESDC (Employment and Social Development Canada), which allows them to hire foreign skilled employees for jobs that cannot be filled by Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
Types of Work Permit Visa for Canada:
Work permits in Canada are divided into two categories, such as:
1. An employer-specific work permit: It allows a foreign national to work in a specific job for a single company without requiring a positive LMIA.
2. LMIA Based Work Permits: The LMIA is granted by ESDC, which enables a Canadian business to hire a foreign worker after examining a number of protective labour market conditions.
Foreign workers and employers should go through a two-step process to obtain a work visa in Canada. First, the business must apply for a Labor Market Impact Assessment through ESDC, and then the worker must apply for a work visa through Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
3. Open Work Permits (Without LMIA): If you have an open work permit, you can work for any employer.
Documents Required for a Work Permit Visa in Canada:
1. A valid passport with a validity period of at least 6 months
2. Passport-sized photos
3. Educational qualification certificates
4. Proof of Professional Qualifications and Work Experience
5. Evidence of sufficient financial means to fund their expenses while in Canada is required.
6. Medical examinations from registered hospitals.
7. Fees for applications
Other Important Considerations:
Some workers may wish to bring their families to Canada with them. If the employee is a new immigrant to Canada, his or her spouse and/or dependent children can typically be included in the work visa application. You can always consult agencies that can help you simplify the process.
